Mr Liu Zengwen, 53, is the new Chinese Ambassador to Romania. An expert in Romania, this is Mr Zengwen’s fourth term in the Romanian-based embassy since 1981. Mr Zengwen has also been counsellor in the Republic of Moldova for one year. He is married with one son.

Mr Sedat Karan, 41, has been appointed general manager of Synergy Construction Romania. A civil engineer, Mr Karan has worked in the United Arab Emirates, Russia, Iran and Kazakhstan.

Mr Debashish Chakravarti has been appointed the new Indian Ambassador to Romania. Since 1977 he has served in missions in Hong Kong, Beijing, Geneva, Dhaka and Ottawa. Mr Chakravarti was deputy director general of the Indian Council for World Affairs and Senior Directing Staff in India’s National Defence College. Before coming to Romania, he was High Commissioner for India in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Mr Chakravarti is married with two children and studied history at Delhi University and modern Chinese at the University of Hong Kong.

Ms Mariana Wencz, former country general manager of Czech pharma firm Zentiva, has been appointed the new head of the local division of Indian pharma firm Glenmark Pharmaceuticals.

Mr Eugen Teodorovici, 36, has been appointed secretary of state in the Ministry of Economy and Finance. He will manage the treasury and co-ordinate departments dealing with European Union funds. Since 2004, Mr Teodorovici was general director of the Management Authority for the EU programme for large infrastructure projects ISPA in the Ministry of Finance. He also worked for the Ministry for European Integration and Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Mr Radu Rizoiu has been appointed senior partner in law firm Stoica & Asociatii. The attorney-at-law manages the advisory department and assists mergers and acquisitions, project financing and capital markets including asset-based financing.

Mr Dan Rares Raducanu has been appointed senior partner in law firm Stoica & Asociatii. A lawyer in commercial and civil cases, his practice includes administrative, tax and competition law.
