Globinvest launches an ETF tracking the BET-XT index on the Bucharest Stock Exchange

    Published on

SAI Globinvest, one of the long-standing investment management companies in Romania, listed its second ETF on the Regulated Market of the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB), under the ticker symbol GIBXTETF. Globinvest BET-XT ETF aims to fully replicate the structure of BVB’s reference index (BET-XT).

Launched by BVB in 2008, BET-XT is a price index that tracks the performance of the 30 most traded Romanian companies on the BVB Regulated Market. Having a broader composition than the benchmark BET index, it offers a wider perspective on the evolution of the Romanian capital market. The complete index structure is available HERE.

The total market capitalization of all Romanian companies included in the BET-XT index stands at approximately RON 438 billion, representing 60% of the main segment’s total market capitalization, which exceeded RON 724 billion at the end of the day on August 17. In terms of yield, from its launch to date, BET-XT displays a 340% increase. At the same time, the first half of 2026 recorded the index’s best H1 performance since its launch. Also in 2026, the BET-XT index surpassed the 3,000-point threshold for the first time, reaching 3.078,66 points following the trading session on August 17. Since the beginning of the year, BET-XT has been appreciated by 46%.

With the launch of Globinvest’s second ETF, we reach the milestone of 10 ETFs available for trading on the Bucharest Stock Exchange. This is a confirmation of our market’s maturity and the democratization of investing through ETFs. Investors have a simple way to invest in the Stock Exchange – they can buy a diversified portfolio without performing complex analysis. Capital market development is a joint effort: the result of the partnership between fund managers, listed companies, and investors who put their money to work. With a 46% return on the BET-XT index since the beginning of the year, the outlook remains optimistic. We continue to build a modern stock exchange, open to everyone looking to secure a better financial future,” said Radu Hanga, President of the Bucharest Stock Exchange.

Investors seeking broader exposure to the Romanian capital market now have the opportunity to invest in Globinvest’s new ETF. Diversification across the 30 most traded companies on the Exchange included in the BET-XT index, combined with the low costs specific to an ETF, makes this investment product accessible and desirable for any long-term portfolio. We congratulate Globinvest for its consistency in developing the ETF market at BVB and for offering Romanians simple, transparent tools that are easy to integrate into their savings process,” said Remus Vulpescu, CEO of the Bucharest Stock Exchange.

Globinvest BET-XT ETF is launched by SAI Globinvest, a Romanian investment management company with 30 years of experience, founded in Cluj-Napoca. Within 16 months, Globinvest has brought two ETF financial instruments to BVB, the first being Globinvest Energy & Financials ETF, launched in April 2025, which tracks the performance of the BET-EF sector index and offered investors a maximum return of over 125% since launch. Net assets of the investment funds managed by SAI Globinvest total approximately RON 535 million. The initial assets of the GIBXTETF ETF amount to RON 4.1 million.

Globinvest BET-XT ETF is the second ETF launched by Globinvest on the Bucharest Stock Exchange. The BET-XT index components include representative companies from key sectors of the Romanian economy, such as financial, energy, pharmaceutical, industrial, and utilities. Today’s launch represents, at the same time, a vote of confidence: confidence in Romanian companies, confidence in the Bucharest Stock Exchange, confidence in investors and our partners, as well as confidence in the Globinvest team. Through this new product, we are turning the BET-XT index into a genuine, accessible, and liquid investment vehicle,” said Ilie Cenan, President of Globinvest.

The ETF benefits from liquidity provider (market maker) services provided by TradeVille, which also handled the admission of the ETF fund units under the ticker symbol GIBXTETF to the BVB Regulated Market.

The listing of GIBXTETF represents a new step in the development of the local ETF market and offers investors access, through a single instrument, to the performance of the top 30 most traded companies on the BVB Regulated Market, reunited under the BET-XT index. We are glad that TradeVille contributed to the completion of this project by assuming the roles of Authorized Participant and Market Maker. By ensuring liquidity, we aim to facilitate the trading of fund units and contribute to the efficient operation of the secondary market. We thank the teams at Globinvest and the Bucharest Stock Exchange, as well as all partners involved, for their collaboration and trust,” said Iulia Ogescu, Capital Market Lawyer at TradeVille.

Alongside Globinvest BET-XT ETF, investors currently have access to 9 other ETFs tradable on the Bucharest Stock Exchange.
