The European Business Women’s Employers’ Association PEFA announces that it has joined the UN Women global network, becoming a member of the Women, Peace and Security and Humanitarian Action (WPS-HA) Compact, a global platform that brings together more than 250 states, international organizations, public institutions, civil society organizations and representatives of the business environment, engaged in the implementation of the “Women, Peace and Security” Agenda and in promoting humanitarian action globally.
Andreea Negru, President of the European Business Women’s Employers’ Association PEFA, said: “PEFA’s accession to The Compact under the aegis of UN Women is a recognition of the role our organization has in promoting leadership, entrepreneurship and women’s participation in economic and social development. The voice of women in business is the voice of a strong economy – almost 25% of Romania’s GDP is generated by women-led businesses. Through this initiative, we are strengthening partnerships that turn female leadership into a catalyst for economic development, peace and sustainable progress.”
PEFA reaffirms its commitment to actively contribute to the implementation of the objectives assumed by the Compact, in particular through the development of partnerships and programmes that support women’s participation in economic and decision-making processes.
Lorena Stoian, First Vice-President of PEFA, says: “Women’s participation in economic and decision-making processes is today an essential condition for sustainable development and a competitive economy. By joining The Compact, under the aegis of UN Women, PEFA strengthens its role as a catalyst for dialogue and cooperation between the business environment, public institutions and international organizations, promoting entrepreneurship, leadership and women’s contribution to economic and social development.”
Within this approach, PEFA undertakes to promote the Business-to-Business principle, by developing collaboration mechanisms between business communities, in order to facilitate the
transfer of skills, the exchange of good practices and the active involvement of women entrepreneurs in multiplying successful models and strengthening economic resilience.
Colonel (r.) Manuela Mihai, PEFA Ambassador for International Relations, considers: “The Women, Peace and Security Agenda confirms that economic development, security and female leadership are complementary pillars of a resilient society. The active involvement of the business environment and the increase of women’s participation in decision-making processes contribute to building stable, prosperous communities better prepared to respond to current challenges. PEFA takes an active role in strengthening international cooperation and promoting partnerships with a lasting impact for economic and social development.”
With this new quality, PEFA strengthens its position as an employers’ organisation involved in promoting entrepreneurship, equal opportunities and international cooperation, contributing to the implementation of the global goals on sustainable development, peace and security. PEFA will continue to develop initiatives and projects that connect the business environment with national and international institutions, promoting leadership, education and economic cooperation as essential tools for building a competitive and inclusive economy.
