Electrica and the Atlantic Council have signed a five-year strategic partnership in Washington, D.C.

    Published on

Electrica has announced the conclusion of a five-year strategic partnership with the Atlantic Council, one of the most important public policy organizations in the United States. The agreement was signed on June 10, 2026, in Washington, D.C., by Alexandru Chiriță, CEO of Electrica, and Atlantic Council President and CEO Frederick Kempe, during the 10th edition of the Atlantic Council Global Energy Forum.

Under this agreement, Electrica joins the Atlantic Council’s presence in Bucharest as a founding member of Atlantic Council Romania. The company also becomes a Founding Partner of the Vertical Energy Corridor report on energy security along Europe’s eastern flank, which is set to be published later this year, and will hold a seat on the Romania Advisory Council.

The signing comes at a time when energy infrastructure in Southeast Europe is becoming a central element of regional security, and transatlantic cooperation in the energy sector is taking on an increasingly strategic dimension.

Commenting on the agreement, Electrica CEO Alexandru Chiriță stated that alliances are sustained through determination and unity, and that both are built in the economy long before they are needed in a crisis. He emphasized that in the region, the economy is primarily about energy, describing resilient networks not just as infrastructure, but as defense. He added that Electrica’s presence in Washington reflects not a request, but a contribution—positioning the Romanian company at the table where regional energy security is being shaped, based on its proven ability to build and deliver.
