    DEER invests 11 million RON in modernizing the power distribution infrastructure in Buzau

    Published on

    Distribuție Energie Electrică Romania (DEER), Buzău Branch, has completed a strategic investment project aimed at modernizing the electricity distribution infrastructure in Buzău Municipality, Buzău County.

    The project, titled “Modernization of 110 kV Buzău Nord and Buzău Est substations – replacement of 110/6 kV power transformers (3 units),” was finalized with a total investment of 11 million RON, funded entirely from the company’s own resources.

    The modernization work focused on upgrading medium- and low-voltage power networks and included the replacement of two transformer units (T1 and T2), along with a series of key technical improvements:

    • Replacement of 110 kV busbar disconnectors with new 110 kV, 1600A tripolar disconnectors;
    • Installation of new 110/6.6 kV, 25 MVA power transformers;
    • Replacement of outdated 110 kV circuit breakers with modern 110 kV, 1600A models;
    • Installation of new current transformers and surge arresters;
    • Upgrading the grounding systems and transformer foundations;
    • Integration of all new equipment into the SCADA system for improved monitoring and control.

    According to the company, the investment is designed to significantly enhance the quality of electricity distribution services in the area by reducing both the frequency and duration of unplanned outages, while ensuring optimal operating parameters in line with Romania’s electricity distribution performance standards.

    “This project reflects our strong commitment to improving the reliability and safety of the power grid, while building a sustainable and efficient energy system for the community,” the company said in a statement.

    The modernization of Buzău’s substations marks another step in DEER’s broader strategy to strengthen Romania’s electricity distribution infrastructure and support long-term energy security.
