PPC Renewables Romania, the largest private investor in renewable energy in Romania, continues its strategy of developing hybrid capacities and adds a battery energy storage system (BESS) with a capacity of 4.47 MW | 8.94 MWh to the Colibași photovoltaic park. The project amounts to a total value of 10.5 million lei, of which about 1.9 million lei will be provided by European funding, through the Modernisation Fund.
Located in Colibași, Giurgiu County, the photovoltaic park covers an area of approximately 15 ha. The photovoltaic park was commissioned in 2013 and is equipped with 39,310 solar panels.
Alongside the development of the storage system, the project involves completing all necessary construction and infrastructure elements, arranging operational roads and access routes, fencing the site, implementing safety lighting and monitoring systems, as well as building the area intended for operations, maintenance, and site logistics.
The project benefits from funding through the Modernization Fund – Supporting investments in the development of electricity storage capacities (batteries) connected to an existing renewable energy production facility. The investment amounts to a total value of RON 10,559,314.60. The maximum value insured from the Modernisation Fund is 18.12% of the total value of the project, respectively RON 1,913,027.69, and the value insured by PPC Renewables Romania is RON 8,646,286.91.
