OX2 Romania, part of the Swedish OX2 Group, has acquired three wind power projects with a total installed capacity of 235 MW from Future Power. The projects are located in Vaslui and Vrancea counties. This deal brings OX2’s local portfolio to over 1.1 GW, strengthening the company’s position in the Romanian market where it currently has in construction one-third of the 600 MW of wind power capacity under construction across the country.
“The transaction with Future Power marks another step forward in OX2’s business development strategy in Romania. In just four years of activity in Romania, we have grown steadily, both organically and through acquisitions, replicating the business model that has proven OX2’s global value – encompassing the management of the entire project lifecycle, from land acquisition and permitting to development, financing, PPA contracts, construction, and operations. We continue to grow by developing solid, bankable projects with clear commissioning timelines, which will attract new investors to Romania,” said Lăcrămioara Diaconu-Pințea, Vice President and Country Manager of OX2 Romania.
The three projects acquired from Future Power are expected to be commissioned between 2028 and 2030, depending on the permitting schedule. OX2 also owns other greenfield wind projects in the region which, like those in Constanța, Brăila and Galați counties, benefit from strong wind resources.
“As the developer of these projects, I am proud to transfer them to a partner capable of turning clean energy concepts into operational assets, such as OX2. These wind projects will play a major role in strengthening Romania’s renewable energy ecosystem, supporting local communities and contributing to long-term economic growth and sustainability,” said Cristian Barbu, founder and CEO of Future Power.
OX2’s current development and construction portfolio in Romania includes nine onshore wind power projects.
- 195 MW under construction, representing one-third of all onshore wind capacity currently under construction in Romania.
- 766 MW of onshore wind power in development.
- 150 MW of solar power and BESS in development.
In 2024 and 2025, OX2 Romania signed transactions with major global investors, namely Nala Renewables (Green Breeze project, 99 MW) and HELLENiQ Renewables (Ansthall project, 96 MW).
