ENEVO Group has created the new OLA (Operational Limitation Automation) system, a solution built on advanced communication protocols and technologies designed for critical applications in the energy sector.
OLA is installed within electrical networks to prevent overloads, equipment damage, or even outages. When the grid reaches a high-load condition or an abnormal operating scenario, OLA intervenes automatically to limit the power output of the plant—or disconnect it, if necessary—to maintain grid stability.
Thus, OLA acts as an intelligent protection system: it continuously monitors the status of critical network elements, and if any of them become disconnected or overloaded, it automatically takes action to ensure the safe operation of the infrastructure.
The solution uses digital protection relays designed for use in electrical substations, recognized for their reliability and resistance to electromagnetic disturbances, which ensure operational stability even under demanding conditions.
The system’s architecture is built for scalability, allowing information collected from a single device to be distributed simultaneously to multiple users, optimizing implementation and operational costs.
These services are complemented by continuous cybersecurity monitoring. Data traffic across the entire communication infrastructure—from source to destination—is analyzed and assessed using technologies specific to industrial communications.
“The accelerated pace at which new renewable power plants are being connected to the grid can no longer be supported by traditional infrastructure alone. It requires intelligent automation, continuous monitoring, and integrated cybersecurity from the design phase. As energy systems become more complex and volatile, operational digitalization is no longer an advantage but an essential condition for grid stability and safety. Our mission is not only to help producers connect faster but to ensure they remain connected safely, efficiently, and resiliently. In a sector undergoing constant transformation, energy security is built on technology, engineering, and digital risk control. And for any system to be used effectively, technical dialogue with energy specialists is a key component of the sector’s collective know-how—one that our group is committed to actively supporting,” said Radu Brașoveanu, CTO and co-founder of ENEVO Group.
