Reţele Electrice România auctions works worth almost 200 million lei for the modernization of the energy infrastructure from Bocșa city

    Published on

Rețele Electrice România, part of the PPC group in Romania, has launched, through the public procurement information system (SEAP), a procurement procedure for modernization works of medium and low voltage networks in Bocșa, Caraș-Severin county, for the benefit of approximately 17,000 inhabitants. The value of the tender is over 198 million lei, excluding VAT, the works being co-financed through the Modernization Fund.

“Through this investment made with the support of European funds, we demonstrate our commitment to the community and its future. The modernization of the electricity grid in the city of Bocșa will increase the resilience and reliability of the infrastructure, ensuring a safe and continuous supply for the inhabitants. The project aims to reconfigure the distribution network for the medium voltage area, as well as to increase the degree of digitization of the distribution network. Through these measures, we prepare the infrastructure not only for the current needs of consumers, but also for future ones, while strengthening the attractiveness of the city for new investors and contributing to its long-term economic development,” said Mihai Pește, General Director of Reţele Electrice România.

Thus, following this tender, in the city of Bocșa in Caraș-Severin County, Reţele Electrice România will partially modernize the medium and low voltage networks by replacing cables and conductors over distances of almost 38 km for medium voltage ones, respectively 81 km for low voltage ones. In addition, the medium voltage network will be partially moved underground and the routes of the underground network cables have been chosen so as not to interfere with historical/architectural monuments, archaeological sites or critical institutions.

Also, 47 transformer stations will be modernized, some of them being passed from the (overhead) pole into concrete tires. The network elements will be switched to a remote control system and over 7,300 connections will be rebuilt.

The total value of the project amounts to 204 million lei, excluding VAT, of which the maximum value provided from the Modernization Fund is 146 million lei. The validity of the contracts ends at the expiry of the project sustainability monitoring period, meaning 5 years from the date of commissioning of the investments.

The deadline for submitting bids is 12.01.2026, and the works will have a duration of 42 months from the conclusion of the contract.
