Distributie Energie Electrica Romania (DEER) inaugurated today the new 110/20kV Sibiu Vest transformer station, located in the Sibiu West industrial area — a strategically important objective for the modernization and development of the electricity distribution network in Sibiu County.
The investment, amounting to approximately 70 million lei — of which 45 million lei are non-reimbursable funds — represents DEER’s first project financed through the Modernization Fund.
The project aimed to increase the distribution capacity in the Sibiu West industrial area. As a result of this investment, users will benefit from an electricity distribution service that meets high standards of safety, reliability, and continuity.
This investment also enables more efficient integration of renewable energy produced by both existing and new power plants. Furthermore, it will enhance the energy efficiency of the installations by optimizing internal technological consumption, reducing the number and duration of power outages, and facilitating the connection of new consumers and producers.
“The commissioning of the 110/20kV Sibiu Vest station represents an important step towards strengthening the energy infrastructure in Sibiu County and supporting the transition to a modern and sustainable energy system. Through this investment, DEER actively contributes to improving the quality of the distribution service and to the socio-economic development of the region,” stated Mihaela Suciu, General Director of DEER.
