State Secretary Cristian Bușoi: “All investments in the energy sector must include a solid component of cyber resilience”

    Published on

“The establishment of the incident response center for cybersecurity in the energy sector is important — but just as important is the implementation of European legislation.

Perhaps even more important is the need to understand that we must invest in resilience, in cybersecurity, to protect our critical entities.

Through all our actions, we must prepare ground for investments, and we need concrete measures in the field of cybersecurity. At the European level, we are fully aware that we are the target of attacks and that we are facing a hybrid war,” stated Cristian Bușoi, State Secretary within the Ministry of Energy, at the Cybersecurity in Energy Forum organized by Distributie Energie Electrica Romania.

“There are numerous daily attacks, and companies pay ransoms to recover their data — without these incidents always becoming public knowledge.

Another concern for public authorities and private companies is the growing dependence on technologies produced in China. We have inverters and all kinds of smart devices that can be programmed and controlled remotely.

All investments in the energy sector that involve introducing new production capacity into the system must include a strong component of cyber resilience and protection against cyber-attacks.”
