OMNIASIG celebrates 30 years in Romania, announces new investments for business development

OMNIASIG Vienna Insurance Group marks this year three decades of activity on the Romanian market. Since its establishment in 1995, OMNIASIG has issued approximately 35 million insurance policies and settled nearly 4 million claims, paying out total compensation of 18.4 billion lei. During the same period, the company reached a cumulative volume of gross written premiums of around 30.7 billion lei, strengthening its position among the top insurers in Romania and as a leader in the CASCO and Home Insurance segments.

“Today we celebrate 30 years alongside the people and businesses of Romania. Our evolution and results so far confirm our strong market position and give us confidence to look ahead.
We are preparing responsibly for the future and remain committed to standing by our customers, partners, employees, society, and vulnerable communities where we aim to bring real impact. We will continue to develop products and services tailored to new generations, accelerate the digitalization of operations and processes, and make every effort to reinforce insurance as a key pillar of financial security and continuity of life,” said Mihai Tecău, President of the Managing Board of OMNIASIG Vienna Insurance Group, during the conference dedicated to the company’s 30th anniversary in Romania.

Last year, OMNIASIG recorded an increase of approximately 17% in gross written premiums compared to 2023, reaching around 2.8 billion lei. During the same period, the company paid out approximately 1.4 billion lei in claims across all business lines.

The most significant growth rates were reported in the following segments: CASCO (+12%), Property (+19%), Health Insurance (+10%), Travel Insurance (+21%), and RCA (+23%).

Among the company’s digitalization investments are the VClaims platform, for digital claims management, as well as the OMNIASIG mobile app, which is constantly being upgraded. The app enables the purchase of mandatory and optional home insurance policies, along with a full set of services for policyholders of OMNI+: users can book appointments at any of the 1,500 partner clinics nationwide, track requests, view detailed coverage information, and request reimbursement for medical services.
In the near future, the company will also launch ecoPILOT, an innovative telematics-based mobile app dedicated to CASCO clients, designed to reward safe driving behavior.

From a sustainability perspective, OMNIASIG has set clear goals: net-zero by 2050 (for investments & underwriting) and climate-neutral operations by 2030. Over the past two years, solar panels have been installed in 12 OMNIASIG locations across Bucharest, Cluj, Constanța, Arad, Timișoara, Alba, Sibiu, and Pitești.
