Victor Vevera, ICI Bucharest: “We have an AI department that can help companies make the product design part much more efficient”

“The National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics in Bucharest supports the circular economy through technology. In addition to what we apply in our internal processes, we can help companies with technological applications to reduce waste and streamline processes.

Sharing resources, namely the cloud, will mean reducing operational costs, energy costs, but will also represent greater security and a reduction in the amount of equipment,” Victor Vevera, General Director, ICI Bucharest said at Circular Economy Conference organized by The Diplomat-Bucharest and Sustainability-Today.

    Key statements:

    • The cybersecurity part can be ensured much easier, and we offer security operations center services. It is much easier to buy a monthly subscription to ensure cybersecurity, with a team that works 24/7 for you, than to develop an internal team to make SoC and need at least 8 people to provide these services, and the costs would be much higher.
    • We have an artificial intelligence department that can help companies make the product design part much more efficient. There is a part of robotics and automation that can be used in the processing and design of any product, both commercial and industrial.
    • Another area of interest is the use of blockchain technology, which can be used for the distribution chain and supply chain. This technology provides traceability of a product, validity over time, but also provides cybersecurity on this product. You can always have access to possible intrusions or attempted intrusions. The technology is very interesting, very new, and there are many specialists in Romania.
    • Product traceability is very important. The current infrastructure of the DRS guarantee-return system can support product scanning (with a unique code) both at sale and at recycling. Thus, we can obtain valuable information regarding the speed of sale, transport routes, etc. and we can create a metadata map on which public policies or commercial policies can be developed.
