Schneider Electric launches next-generation MCCB for renewable applications

    Published on

Schneider Electric, the leader in the digital transformation of energy management and automation, today launched its EasyPact Solar MCCB range, designed to meet modern customer expectations, including the demand for a dependable, sustainable solution.

In the electrical industry, achieving net zero means addressing two major challenges: the limitations of fossil fuel-based plants in meeting rising electricity demand, and the need for switchgear devices that can carry current at much higher voltages to facilitate the adoption of renewable energy sources.

In a market where options for 800V switchgear devices are currently limited, the EasyPact Solar MCCB stands out with a wide current operating range from 125A to 800A and accommodates the maximum fault level with breaking capacities of up to 50kA. This addition completes Schneider Electric’s portfolio of Solar MCCBs, ACBs, and SDs designed to effectively safeguard 800V AC applications. This switchgear is a significant advancement in our product offerings.

EasyPact Solar MCCB comes with the highest Dielectric strength in the MCCB ranges available in the market for renewable applications. The MCCB with cutting edge technology is designed with an insulation voltage of 1250V which makes it highly safe for such higher operating voltage applications.

It sustains performance under higher LV voltages, ideal for photovoltaic and renewable energy production. As photovoltaic panels typically provide output at 1500V DC, an inverter is required to convert it to 800V AC, which the MCCB range can safely handle. Once carried, it can be fed to the step-up transformer and sent to the grid. This functionality tailors the range for ACCB & LT panel applications in string-inverter-based renewable electricity generation plants.

Schneider Electric has designed the range to secure durability and reliability for end customers like inverter players, panel builders, and customers. It features remote operation and safety accessories, indoor and outdoor performance, compact design, and ease of installation.
