    Published on

International law firm CMS has advised Alcedo SRL (Alcedo), a subsidiary of the Japanese conglomerate Sumitomo Group, on the acquisition of Naturevo, a Romanian distributor of agricultural materials.

Founded in 1990, Alcedo is a Romanian distributor of materials, services and equipment for the agricultural sector. It became part of the Sumitomo Group in 2011. This acquisition will combine the strengths of two major distributors of agricultural resources and materials in Romania. The CMS team advised on all the legal aspects of the transaction, including due diligence, transaction documents, and merger clearance.

Horea Popescu, Managing Partner of CMS Romania and Head of CEE Corporate M&A, comments:We are delighted to have assisted Alcedo on this transaction, which is going to have a profound impact on the Romanian agricultural sector. Thanks to our deep expertise, we were able to advise Alcedo through the intricacies of the transaction.

CMS Counsel Mircea Moraru adds: “We are happy to have worked with the Alcedo team on this deal. The Romanian agricultural sector is one of the most prominent in Europe and this deal will allow Alcedo to grow its market share, and boost the use of special fertilisers, which Naturevo specialises in.”

The CMS team was led by Horea Popescu and Mircea Moraru and included, Raluca Ionescu, Claudia Nagy, Simona Strava, Eduard Roventa and Cristina Ciomos (Corporate).
