Bozankaya to deliver 18 more trams in Iasi

    Published on

Rolling stock manufacturer Bozankaya will deliver 18 more modern trams after winning a new tender organised by the Municipality of Iasi. Bozankaya was selected as the preferred supplier after submitting the best offer worth 141.4 million RON, below the expected contract value of 177.2 million RON.

The newly built trams will have a minimum capacity of 135 passengers, including at least 30 seats and a minimum of 5 accessible seats for people with disabilities. These trams will be approximately 22 meters long and are equipped with air conditioning, heating, Wi-Fi, GPS, LED panels, and collision warning systems.

”This achievement reflects our commitment to innovation, excellence and the advancement of sustainable urban transport, as well as our continued good collaboration with local authorities. We look forward to contributing to Iași’s public transport infrastructure and providing a superior travel experience for citizens by providing state-of-the-art transport solutions”, said Aytunç Günay, Chairman of the Board of Bozankaya.

The first tram will arrive in Iași after signing the supply contract in about 15 months. Subsequent deliveries will then be scheduled every three months.

”Thanks to the European funds, through the PNRR and the Regional Operational Programme, our city will have 119 electric means of transport (50 trams and 69 buses), for a total value of about 744 million RON. We will continue to invest in our programme to modernise public transport and make it green, modern, and intelligent”, said Mihai Chirica, Mayor of Iasi.
