NEPI Rockcastle inaugurated the largest shopping centre in Craiova

NEPI Rockcastle has inaugurated today Promenada shopping centre in Craiova, following a greenfield investment of 136 million euro.

Promenada commercial area has a total leasable area of around 80,000 sqm. It integrates the shopping centre which occupies circa 53,300 sqm and a retail park of about 10,400 sqm, owned by NEPI Rockcastle. The commercial area also includes a 16,000 sqm owned by Dedeman.

“Promenada is not only the most valuable commercial retail investment in CEE in 2023, but also certainly one of the most complex projects in the NEPI Rockcastle portfolio. Despite the geopolitical and economic challenges that coincided with our construction period, we have persevered, creating a top-notch shopping centre focused on sustainability. The high level of interest from numerous international retailers and the large number of new brands highlights the potential of the CEE shopping centre market and the attractiveness of economically booming regional cities such as Craiova”, said Rüdiger Dany, CEO, NEPI Rockcastle.

As part of its ongoing commitment to ESG (environmental, social and governance factors) compliance and carbon footprint reduction, Promenada shopping centre will be equipped with the largest photovoltaic installation in NEPI Rockcastle’s portfolio. The installation represents the largest photovoltaic project developed within a shopping centre in Romania, with an investment value of more than 7 million euro.

According to NEPI Rockcastle representatives, Promenada directly and indirectly generates more than 1,500 new jobs.

The shopping centre also has the largest outdoor panoramic terrace in Craiova, hosting restaurants and cafes.

The Promenada shopping area, which includes the shopping centre and the retail park, offers more than 2,800 parking spaces as well as drive-through restaurants, including KFC. The project will also include a Cineplexx cinema.
