The Romanian Wind Energy Association and the Romanian Photovoltaic Industry Association are preparing the launch of the Code of Good Practices for renewable energy in Romania. The document will be released during an event held on September 21.

Mechthild Woersdoerfer, Deputy Director General DG Energy: “Romania must establish more ambitious national objectives and accelerate the development and commissioning of new energy capacities from renewable sources. The current review of the National Energy and Climate Plans is the perfect opportunity for this. The Commission encourages Romania to review its contribution to be in line with the EU’s increased 2030 renewable energy target and to put in place appropriate policies and measures to achieve it.”

Sebastian Burduja Minister of Energy: “National energy priorities focus on the new investments needed to increase the contribution of renewable energy in the energy mix, including exploiting the potential of offshore renewable energy in the Black Sea, large-scale electricity storage and the use of hydrogen to decarbonize hard-to-electrify sectors. Considering the new objectives of the European Commission according to the REPowerEU plan, i.e. the increase of the share of renewable energy in the total gross consumption at the level of the European Union from 40% to 45% by 2030, Romania is in the process of updating the PNIESC, on which occasion a new renewable energy target will be proposed.

A first step was taken through the PNRR, with an increase in the share of renewable energy compared to the objective established by the PNIESC, to 34%. In order to achieve this objective, investments are foreseen in new production capacities of 950 MW of electricity from renewable sources (solar and onshore wind), with an allocation of 460 million euros.”
