Gabriel Andronache, ANRE: “Romania could reach 2,000 MW installed at prosumers at the beginning of next year”

The capacity installed at prosumers could reach 2,000 MW at the end of this year or the beginning of next year, said Gabriel Andronache, vice-president of ANRE, at SIREN 2023 organized by CNR-CME.

“At the moment, a new player has appeared in the market, the prosumer, who, although he produces for his own consumption, has started to make a business out of it. If I have 12 kW consumption, I install 60 kW. It is produced, but no longer consumed at home.

At the end of June, there were 77,600 prosumers in Romania, with a total installed capacity of 973 MW.

If we looked at the surrounding countries, in Hungary or Poland, there were problems in maintaining the frequency of the network. At the ANRE level, we must think about how to make the prosumer produce and inject into the system, but also find a formula so that in the investment plan of the distribution operators, a certain percentage of the investments goes to networks development.

The increase in the number of prosumers and the installed capacity is one of the reasons for the decrease in the country’s electricity consumption, provided by the networks.”
