    Published on

    The government adopted today, February 15, at the proposal of the Ministry of Energy, the Decision on declaring the investment project “Natural gas transmission pipeline for supplying the Mintia CHPP” as a project of national importance in the field of natural gas.

    At the same time, the Ministry of Energy has been designated as the competent authority responsible for facilitating and coordinating the authorisation procedure for this important investment project.

    For the natural gas supply of the Mintia Thermal Power Plant, it is necessary to extend the National Gas Transmission System by building the natural gas transmission pipeline for the supply of the Mintia CHPP, including electricity supply, cathodic protection and optical fiber.

    The proposed pipeline follows the Hateg – Bacia – Mintia route, and the location of the proposed natural gas transmission pipeline is located on the administrative territory of Hunedoara County within the radius of the following territorial administrative units:

    • The city of Deva,
    • The town of Călan,
    • The city of Hunedoara,
    • The commune of Sântămărie-Orlea
    • Bretea commune Romanian,
    • Băcia commune,
    • Cârjiţi commune
    • Veţel commune

    By building this pipeline, the natural gas supply of the future Mintia Thermal Power Plant will be ensured.

    The implementation of the project brings the following benefits:

    • facilitates the supply of natural gas to the new electricity generation capacity at a capacity of 1700 MWh;
    • creates the conditions for carrying out the project of modernization of the Mintia plant so that it ensures the substantial benefits for the national energy system;
    • contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions;
    • increasing investment in the industry.
