E.ON extends contract of CEO Leonhard Birnbaum until 2028

    Published on

The Supervisory Board of E.ON extended the contract of CEO Leonhard Birnbaum by a further five years until 30 June 2028. Birnbaum has been a member of the Group’s management body since 2013 and has been E.ON’s CEO since April 2021.

Supervisory Board Chairman Karl-Ludwig Kley commented on the contract extension: “As Chairman of the Board of Management, Leonhard Birnbaum has further sharpened the E.ON Group’s strategy with its clear focus on sustainability, digitalisation and growth. He steers E.ON with a sure hand through the current energy crisis and enjoys great trust and high esteem among the Supervisory Board, within the Group as well as among our external partners in politics, business and among our customers. We are convinced that he is the right man at the head of the Group to not only master the enormous, short-term challenges together with his Board of Management team, but also to take advantage of the opportunities that will present themselves for E.ON as a sustainable platform for the energy transition in Europe in the coming years.”
