Romanian Energy Center ‘worried’ about the new emergency ordinance targeting the energy market

    Published on

The Romanian Energy Center Association, through its members, the main companies in the energy production, transport and distribution sectors, energy services, expresses its concern regarding the effects that the Government Emergency Ordinance no. 27/2022 regarding the measures applicable to final customers in the electricity and natural gas market between April 1, 2022, and March 31, 2023, will have on the entire energy market.

“We regret the lack of authentic communication and consultation with the representatives of the energy industry, both the business environment and the associative environment. We estimate that the application of the Ordinance will produce serious and irreversible dysfunctions at the level of the energy market and implicitly risks regarding the energy security and economic competitiveness of Romania,” a release shows.

“Last but not least, we notice with surprise the departure from the principles and plans stated by the European Commission, regarding the legislative directions of the internal energy market (e.g. Directive 944/2019, Regulation 943/2019), the set of solutions regarding the solution of the present energy crisis, and the very basic principles of the functioning of the business environment.

The Romanian Energy Center Association, having members throughout the value chain of the national energy sector, both private and state entities, can represent a credible, equidistant, and competent source of dialogue. The goal of a correct dialogue is to identify the concrete problems of the energy sector and the cascading effects in the economy.

At the same time, the Romanian Energy Center constantly affirms its willingness to be actively involved through recommendations and elaboration of general and specific measures to ensure energy security, continuity of energy supply at affordable prices for end consumers.”
