    Published on

The project to build a new 400 kV overhead power line between Constanta Nord and Medgidia Sud, proposed by CNTEE Transelectrica SA in mid-September this year for financing from the Modernization Fund budget, obtained financing of 22.9 million Euro, being the first Romanian project approved within this European financing mechanism.

The payment of the funds was made on Monday, December 13, 2021, to the Ministry of Energy, as the competent authority for the management and development of the Modernization Fund.

The construction of the new 400 kV overhead power line between Constanta Nord and Medgidia Sud stations will allow the integration of an additional production of electricity from renewable sources of about 685 MW in the Dobrogea area. It will also make it possible to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by about 16,000 tonnes per year.

The 400 kV Overhead Power Line (OHL) Constanta Nord – Medgidia Sud, on the list of the 20 strategic projects of national importance of CNTEE Transelectrica SA, involves the construction of 35 new kilometers of overhead power line, 2 kilometers of underground power line, as well as and the expansion of Constanta Nord and Medgidia Sud stations. The implementation of the project will take place between 2021-2024.
