OMV Petrom and the Renovatio Group are advancing the implementation of renewable energy projects within the Electrocentrale Borzești portfolio. The project company developing the CEE Onești wind farm in Gura Văii, Bacău County, has secured a 47 million euros investment loan from Banca Comercială Română (BCR), covering at least 60% of the project’s total investment value.
The financing supports one of the 300 MW wind projects for which OMV Petrom recently announced a final investment decision.
“Our objective is to exceed 2.5 GW of installed renewable energy capacity by 2030, together with our partners. We have built a diversified portfolio of solar, wind and hydropower projects and are now entering a new phase of transforming these developments into operational generation assets. We already have 70 MW in operation and 1,500 MW under development. The Gura Văii–Onești project marks another important step in strengthening our renewable energy production footprint in Romania,” said Franck Neel, OMV Petrom Executive Board Member responsible for Gas & Power.
With an installed capacity of approximately 50 MW, the Gura Văii wind farm has obtained all the required permits. The project is expected to generate around 110 GWh of net electricity annually.
In 2024, OMV Petrom acquired a 50% stake in Electrocentrale Borzești, a company developing a renewable energy portfolio with a total planned capacity of approximately 1,000 MW.
