Electrica has announced the signing of an EPC contract by its wholly owned subsidiary, New Trend Energy S.R.L., for the development of the Satu Mare 3 photovoltaic project.
The contract covers the construction of the solar power plant and a 110 kV electrical substation, as well as the provision of operation and maintenance (O&M) services for a period of three years following the project’s commissioning. The total contract value amounts to approximately EUR 27.9 million, excluding VAT.
The Satu Mare 3 photovoltaic project will have an installed capacity of approximately 62.5 MWp and is located near the commune of Doba, in Satu Mare County, Romania. With the EPC contract now signed, the project officially enters the construction phase.
“Signing this contract marks the transition of another strategic project from the development stage to execution,” said Alexandru Chiriță, CEO of Electrica. “Step by step, we are building a portfolio of generation assets that will support the Electrica Group’s growth and strengthen our position in Romania’s energy market. We are deploying the capital raised through our green bond issuance into investments that create new generation capacity, enhance energy security, and deliver long-term value.”
The project supports the Electrica Group’s strategic objective of developing an electricity generation portfolio of up to 1 GW by 2030. The investment costs will be financed primarily from the proceeds of Electrica’s 2025 green bond issuance.
