SAMEDAY courier company is gearing up for Black Friday and the peak shopping season, during which it expects to process nearly 10 million parcels in Romania, up 16% compared to the same period in 2025. This year’s preparations come against a backdrop of growing business performance and sustained investment.
“For us, Black Friday is not just about volumes and operational capacity, but about the trust that millions of people place in us when they choose SAMEDAY. Our ambition is to become the most loved courier company in Romania and across the region, and we know that achieving this ambition depends on the experience we deliver to our customers every single day. That is why we continuously invest in infrastructure, technology and people to make delivery simpler, more flexible and more predictable. We will keep building, listening and improving every step of the way,” said Lucian Baltaru, CEO of SAMEDAY Group.
During the Black Friday campaign, SAMEDAY expects to handle more than twice its usual parcel volumes, with a peak of over 925,000 parcels processed in a single day in Romania. To support this increase, the company has expanded its sorting capacity by 20% through the opening of new hubs (Rudeni, Bacău and Sofia) and the expansion of existing facilities. SAMEDAY’s infrastructure currently supports a maximum processing capacity of 1.2 million parcels per day.
The easybox network remains the main delivery channel during this period, with SAMEDAY estimating that approximately 7 out of 10 parcels will be delivered to easybox lockers. In Romania, the network has expanded to over 7,000 installed lockers, with approximately 485,000 compartments, representing a 31% increase compared to the same period last year.
Nationwide, there is approximately one SAMEDAY locker for every 3,000 residents, while 43% of Romania’s population can reach an easybox within a maximum seven minute walk.
Investments of nearly RON 300 million in 2026
In 2026, SAMEDAY Group invested approximately RON 300 million across three main areas: logistics infrastructure and automation, through new hubs, logistics centres and expanded sorting capacity; easybox network expansion, bringing its services closer to customers; and technology, through the SAMEDAY app, AI-powered solutions and digital tools designed to simplify customer interactions.
Approximately 30% of this investment was allocated to technology. SAMEDAY aims to maintain the same level of investment in 2027.
Cross-border and fulfilment: new growth opportunities for merchants
Beyond domestic courier services, SAMEDAY is expanding its business through Pactic, the Group’s cross-border courier company, with a dedicated offering for merchants looking to expand their operations into international markets more easily.
By integrating an ecosystem of more than 30 international courier companies, Pactic facilitates deliveries worldwide, complemented by direct services to 11 countries in Central and Eastern Europe through its own daily transit routes.
The company also plans to expand its portfolio with fulfilment services, leveraging its logistics facilities in Bucharest and Budapest. These solutions are designed both for merchants looking to scale their volumes without investing in their own logistics infrastructure and for businesses from other regions or continents seeking to access Central and Eastern European markets, either directly or through marketplaces.
Alongside its investments in infrastructure, SAMEDAY continues to develop its mobile app. Approximately 600,000 users have already saved a preferred easybox in the app, while over 100,000 have opted for automatic redirection to easybox.
New features include automatic extensions of the parcel storage period at easybox lockers, the ability to redirect parcels as soon as the shipping label (AWB) is generated, and Easy Access, a solution that facilitates delivery to lower or upper locker compartments to improve accessibility.
The company is also developing AI-powered customer operations solutions designed to provide faster responses and streamline request management. SAMY, SAMEDAY’s AI-enhanced chatbot, currently covers over 95% of customer support processes and is available both on the website and in the SAMEDAY App, making support more easily accessible to users.
The development of the circular economy in Romania, together with growing consumer interest in product reuse and peer-to-peer commerce, is also reflected in the growth of SAMEDAY’s C2C segment, dedicated to parcel shipments between individuals. In the first nine months of 2026, the number of C2C shipments increased by over 50% compared to the same period last year, highlighting the scale of this trend and changing consumer habits.
During this peak season, SAMEDAY and Cargus, whose acquisition was completed in August, continue to operate as two separate companies, each with its own operations, teams, services and partnerships. The merger process is expected to be completed in the first part of next year, subject to the required legal procedures and regulatory approvals.
