BCR has coordinated a 260 million USD syndicated loan for ALRO, one of Europe’s largest vertically integrated aluminium producers and a major Romanian exporter. Structured as revolving facilities, the financing will be used by ALRO to refinance existing debt and to cover working capital needs, giving the group flexibility in its operations.
“This credit facility comes at an important moment for ALRO and strengthens our financial position at a time when the European aluminium industry continues to face significant challenges. The trust placed in us by such a strong group of banks confirms the strategic direction we have chosen: a focus on high value-added products, operational efficiency and responsible investment. We now have the resources we need to achieve our strategic objectives and remain a trusted partner for our customers”, said Marian Năstase, Chairman of the Board of Directors, ALRO.
“We are pleased to continue our partnership with ALRO SA through a new syndicated financing. Aluminium is used in essential industries, from energy and transport to construction and defence. Through this transaction, BCR supports a company of strategic importance for Romanian industry and for European production chains, bringing both its understanding of the sector and its expertise in financial structuring,” said Eleonora Bacale, Head of Industrials & TMT, BCR.
“The fact that six major banks have chosen to support ALRO for the next three years says a lot about the strength of our development plans. This financing gives us the flexibility we need to run our business and pursue our long-term objectives. We would like to thank the BCR team for their outstanding coordination, all the syndicate banks that were involved and supported us in this project, and our legal advisors for the excellent cooperation”, said Genoveva Năstase, Chief Financial Officer, ALRO.
Nestor Nestor Diculescu Kingston Petersen (NNDKP) and White & Case acted as legal advisors to the bank syndicate, while Zamfirescu Racoți Vasile & Partners and Simmons & Simmons provided legal assistance to the ALRO SA.
