Agroland Group attracts grants of almost 1 million euros to develop its own renewable energy capacities

    Published on

Agroland entrepreneurial group, present on the retail, agribusiness, food production and animal nutrition market, announces the implementation of a large investment program in renewable energy, through the development of four photovoltaic plants with a total installed capacity of 1.62 MW within the Agroland Foods Mihăilești and Agroland Agribusiness Ișalnița divisions, financed by grants of approximately 1 million euros obtained through the Modernization Fund. The projects have a total value of 1.26 million euros, the amount of approximately 260,000 euros being co-financed by the Group.

The projects include the installation of three photovoltaic plants within Agroland Foods Mihăilești, with a total capacity of 1.32 MW, an annual production of 1,464 MWh and a reduction of 826 t CO₂/year. Also, within Agroland Agribusiness Ișalnița, the installation of a photovoltaic plant with a capacity of 300 kW is planned, which will have an estimated annual production of 374 MWh and a reduction of 227 t CO₂/year.

“Investing in renewable energy is a strategic decision, also aligned with policies and trends in the energy and sustainability fields at European and national level. Through these projects, we are transforming the company’s energy infrastructure and taking an important step towards energy independence, while supporting the company’s ambitious sustainability objectives, for all production units to operate exclusively on green energy,” said Horia Cardoș, Founder & CEO, Agroland Group.

The systems will cover almost the entire energy needs of Agroland’s farms and feed mills and will have a direct contribution to the EU’s “Net Zero 2050” objective, through which the European Union aims to reach an economy with net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

The investments represent a strategic step in Agroland’s plan to transform its operations into a European model of energy efficiency, circular economy and sustainable production, in accordance with the European Green Deal and the National Plan Integrated Energy – Climate Change. With the operationalization of the four photovoltaic plants, the estimated annual savings of the Group will be approximately 370,000 euros, which represents a period of approximately 3.5 years for the recovery of the total investment.
