Contactless technology has generated tremendous growth opportunities in the financial sector, according to Oana Ilas, director, retail products management and development, at Banca Transilvania.

Banca Transilvania has launched BT Pay app in 2018 and since then it reached around 220,000 users.

“Romania has a high penetration rate of contactless cards. At BT we have a rate of over 90 percent and we are very successful in introducing mobile payments,” said Ilas. “BT Pay investment was mandatory to stay relevant in the payments sector. We have 30-40 percent growth each month for mobile payments,” she added.
