Bogdan Badea, Hidroelectrica: Romania needs green energy investments

    Published on

The energy sector in Romania needs investments in green energy, according to Bogdan Badea, President of Board of Directors, Hidroelectrica.

“We need a government agreement on priority projects. We have ongoing investments, but we have been hit many times by excessive bureaucracy” he said during the online conference SUSTAINABILITY IN BUSINESS – Practice what you Preach. “Romania is a country with a balanced energy mix, with a lot of green energy, but which still depends largely on fossil fuels. I hope that in 2030 the energy sector will be represented by green energy to a greater extent.”

Bogdan Badea explained that sustainability can only be achieved with predictability: ““We need predictability regarding the legislation and the harmonization of the regulatory framework components. Much more pragmatism is needed”.

“You cannot have a development strategy without ensuring legislative predictability. I do not want to talk about the past, about initiatives that have impacted the functioning of the energy market. We still bear the consequences of GEO 114. Our investment plan was approved by our shareholders. Green energy investments are needed. I hope that the energy sector in 2030 will largely depend on green energy, our role is to implement these projects, and the authorities need to help us in our efforts,” Badea concluded.

The event was broadcasted live and you can watch the whole speech here.
