    Cristian Secosan, CEO Siemens Romania and Moldova: We will manage huge amount of data in the upcoming years and R&D will be a front-runner in achieving this

    The founders of Siemens company once said that any given company must not only be oriented towards maximizing profit but also serve society through everything it does, either solutions or products. I consider that digitalization is one of the enablers in contributing to serve the society

    The statement has been uttered by Cristian Secosan, CEO Siemens Romania and Moldova, within the recently held e-conference DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION CONFERENCE in ENERGY & UTILITIES organized by The Diplomat-Bucharest, bringing together leaders spearheading digital initiatives in their organizations.

    Throughout the energy chain, process flows and operations are undergoing change under the common denominator of connectivity.

    The estimates show that the data volume will reach 175 zettabytes by 2025. In order to manage his huge amount of data, we will need to have in place the proper technology and that’s why the R&D field will play a major role in achieving this. At the level of company, we have more than 500 people involved in different digitalization jobs and projects and also as part of a statistics, we have around 14 million different equipment connected and over 500 digital offers distributed. Few people know but Siemens is a top 10 company in the software providers ranking.

    DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION CONFERENCE in ENERGY & UTILITIES organized by The Diplomat-Bucharest on May 7th tackled the ways in which digitalization and innovation drive the emergence of a digital utilities business. The urgent need to understand, integrate and get updated with the new technologies is evident for any organization. Big data, meter data, cloud, Internet of Things, omnichanneling, smart metering are not anymore new concepts but daily working tools and the enablers of digital transformation for utilities.
