The Energy Infrastructure Employers’ Association (Patronatul pentru Infrastructură Energetică – PIE) has officially launched as a representative organization for companies involved in designing, building, modernizing and maintaining Romania’s energy infrastructure.
At its establishment, PIE brings together 62 companies, employing more than 5,700 people and generating a combined annual turnover of approximately RON 6 billion.
The organization aims to represent the economic, technical and legal interests of its members while supporting a predictable economic and contractual framework, professional skills development, fair competition, innovation and research. It will also contribute to shaping strategies and policies relevant to the energy sector.
Romania is currently undergoing an accelerated transformation of its energy sector, with investments in new generation capacities, renewable energy, grid modernization and expansion, energy storage, digitalization and automation. However, delivering these objectives depends not only on strategies and funding, but also on the industry’s ability to turn planned investments into operational infrastructure.
In this context, PIE aims to provide a common voice for the energy services, engineering and equipment industries, representing the perspective of companies working on the ground in their dialogue with public authorities, institutions, social partners and relevant European and international organizations.
“Behind every energy project, every investment and every ambitious objective for the development of the national energy system are tens of thousands of engineers, electricians and specialists who design, build and maintain the infrastructure on which Romania’s energy security and everyone’s daily lives depend. These people and their essential contribution receive far too little attention.
Through the Energy Infrastructure Employers’ Association, we aim to give them a stronger voice, highlight the value of their work and help create the conditions in which this industry and its professionals can grow. Because Romania’s energy future depends not only on investments and strategies, but above all on the people capable of turning them into reality,” said Corneliu Bodea, President of the Energy Infrastructure Employers’ Association.
PIE member companies operate across the entire energy infrastructure implementation chain, covering studies, design and engineering, construction and installation, equipment and technologies. Their activities include electricity grids and substations, renewable energy and storage, automation and SCADA systems, digitalization, maintenance and energy services.
By bringing together more than 60 companies, the association aims to help build a strong industry capable of supporting the pace of investment and the transformation of an increasingly complex, digitalized and interconnected energy system.
During its first General Assembly, held recently, the association’s members elected its leadership team.
Corneliu Bodea, CEO of ADREM, was elected President of PIE. The Board of Directors also includes:
- Petre Stoian – First Vice-President;
- George Ciubotaru – Vice-President for Relations with National Authorities and Institutions;
- Bogdan Nicolae Tănase – Vice-President for Relations with External Authorities and Institutions;
- Mihai Macarie – Secretary General.
