Rompetrol Rafinare is continuing its program to modernize and expand the storage infrastructure at the Petromidia refinery in Năvodari, with five tanks either recently rehabilitated or currently undergoing modernization. The projects are designed to strengthen the refinery’s operational reliability while increasing its storage capacity.

One of the recently completed projects involved the reconstruction of a distillate storage tank used in the diesel production process. Following the works, the tank’s capacity was increased from 5,000 cubic meters to 6,000 cubic meters.

As part of the broader storage infrastructure program underway in 2026, Rompetrol Rafinare is also increasing the capacity of a gasoline storage tank from 5,000 cubic meters to 6,000 cubic meters. In addition, two tanks used for storing diesel and other components are being expanded from 10,000 cubic meters to 12,000 cubic meters each. The program also includes the modernization of a crude oil storage tank with a capacity of 57,000 cubic meters.

The modernization works employ advanced technologies, including hydraulic jacking systems that enable tanks to be assembled from the top down. According to the company, this construction method helps reduce risks and significantly improves the efficiency of the execution process.

Since 2007, more than 60 storage tanks have been rehabilitated and modernized at the Petromidia Năvodari and Vega Ploiești refineries, as part of Rompetrol Rafinare’s investment programs.

The ongoing projects are part of the company’s efforts to improve the reliability and efficiency of its storage infrastructure and support the long-term development of its refining operations.
