WALDEVAR Energy and GEN-I Sonce sign a new EPC contract for the construction of a high-voltage transformer station

    Published on

The agreement marks the beginning of the collaboration between the two companies and strengthens WALDEVAR Energy’s position as a reliable EPC partner for high-voltage infrastructure and grid connection projects.

WALDEVAR Energy announces the signing of a new complete EPC contract with GEN-I Sonce for the design, acquisition, delivery, installation, testing and commissioning of the Gheorgheni 110 kV, 63 MVA transformer substation, marking the beginning of the partnership between the two companies.

Based on the agreement, WALDEVAR Energy will provide the complete Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) services for the new 110 kV, 63 MVA transformer substation, as well as the related connection works to the Transmission and System Operator (TSO) network, necessary for the integration of the beneficiary’s energy assets into the national transmission network.

Amid the acceleration of investments in energy generation capacities at European level, transmission and distribution infrastructure has become an essential element for the success of the energy transition. High-voltage substations and grid connection infrastructure play a critical role in the safe, efficient and reliable integration of new energy generation and storage capacities.

This project strengthens WALDEVAR Energy’s expertise in the development and implementation of complex high-voltage infrastructure projects, complementing the company’s integrated portfolio of EPC services for power generation, transmission and distribution.

“This agreement represents an important step in our partnership with GEN-I Sonce and reflects the trust built on the experience and results demonstrated by WALDEVAR. The delivery of critical energy transmission and distribution infrastructure is essential for accelerating the energy transition in Europe, and we are proud to contribute with our engineering expertise, execution capacity, as well as experience in testing and commissioning, to the development of projects that increase the resilience and reliability of the transmission network”, said Cristian Dragomir, CEO WALDEVAR Energy.

“Our first collaboration with WALDEVAR Energy reflects our shared commitment to the development of high-quality energy infrastructure. We are happy to build this partnership by implementing the new transformer station project and look forward to its successful completion,” said Gregor Hudohmet, CEO GEN-I Sonce.

The agreement was presented at Intersolar Europe 2026, where WALDEVAR Energy promoted its integrated ecosystem of solutions for the energy sector, highlighting the company’s capabilities in large-scale EPC projects for power transmission and distribution generation, including specialized command, control, protection, SCADA and operation and maintenance services.
