Renewable energy producer R.Power has completed construction works on site at its high-voltage 55 MWp (DC) Lazuri photovoltaic (PV) project in Satu Mare County.
The site consists of 88,708 PV modules and six medium-voltage stations and, once operational, is expected to generate around 70GWh a year, equivalent to the consumption of more than 44,000 households. At 55MWp, it is one of the largest solar farms in Romania by installed capacity. Energisation is planned by the end of 2026.
Lazuri has been awarded a 15-year Contract for Difference (CfD) by the Romanian authorities, underpinning its long-term revenues. It was financed as part of the EUR 44 million project finance facility R.Power signed in June 2026 with ING Bank NV and UniCredit Bank SA, on a club deal basis, for a portfolio of four PV projects in Romania totalling approximately 75MWp.
The project forms part of R.Power’s growing solar, hybrid and energy storage pipeline in Romania, which amounts to 1.5 GW and supports the country’s decarbonisation and energy independence goals.
“Completing construction works at Lazuri is an important milestone for R.Power’s Romanian solar portfolio,” said Florin Federenciuc, R.Power Country Head for Romania. “The project has moved efficiently from development through financing and construction, and we are now preparing for energisation and the start of operations. Romania remains a key market in our CEE strategy, and we look forward to Lazuri contributing utility-scale clean energy to the grid.”
