Electrica launches Shadow Volt, one of its most ambitious internship programs for future energy leaders

    Published on

Electrica has launched Shadow Volt, one of the most ambitious internship programs developed by the company to date, designed to help shape the next generation of professionals in the energy sector.

The program is aimed at university graduates who are enrolled, or will be enrolled starting October 1, 2026, in a postgraduate form of education—including master’s, doctoral, or other postgraduate programs. Shadow Volt offers participants the opportunity to gain first-hand experience by working alongside Electrica’s specialists and exploring the energy industry from the inside.

Through mentoring, practical learning, and exposure to real business projects, interns will develop valuable technical and professional skills while gaining a deeper understanding of one of the most dynamic sectors driving the green transition and the future of society.

Alexandru Chiriță, CEO of Electrica, said: “Who is the Next Volt? I’m looking for three young talents to spend a month working alongside me—alongside my executive team at Electrica. Not in a conventional internship, but at the table where decisions are made.

I believe a leader is measured by what they leave behind. Not by how brightly they shine on their own, but by how many people they prepare to carry the torch forward. Those of us who are seen as leaders today have a responsibility we cannot postpone: to make room for the next generation.

That’s why we’re launching Shadow Volt. Three young people—one shadowing each of Electrica’s three top executive roles: the CEO, the Chief Business Development Officer, and the Chief Financial Officer. For an entire month, they will attend high-level meetings where key decisions are made. They will see how leaders work with people, experience the real pressure of running a company that serves four million customers, and become part of the action—not as spectators, but from the inside.

I know this is a bold initiative. I know this level of openness comes with risks. But a true leader is never afraid to make room for others beside them. The only thing they fear is leaving nothing behind. Maybe it’s you. Maybe it’s someone you know who deserves this opportunity. Applying takes just a few seconds.”
