    Signal Iduna reports 19 percent growth in Romania in 2025

    Signal Iduna Group’s three companies recorded a total gross written premiums of RON 568.4 million in Romania in 2025, marking an aggregated growth of 19% compared to 2024, supported by the balanced contribution of all business lines.

    Signal Iduna Asigurare Reasigurare (life and health insurer) reported RON 376.7 million in gross written premiums, up 19% year-on-year. Signal Iduna Asigurări (general insurer) grew by RON 21% to 131.5 million, while Garanta Asigurări (life and general insurer) increased by 9%, reaching RON 60.2 million in gross written premiums.

    2025 marked the completion of the acquisition of Garanta Asigurări, strengthening the Group’s portfolio expansion and presence in the general insurance market. At the same time, Signal Iduna Asigurări advanced its preparations to enter the MTPL (Motor Third Party Liability) market, as part of its strategy to build a comprehensive product portfolio.

    “Results in 2025 confirm the strategic direction we have chosen for Signal Iduna in Romania. We are building a stronger and more relevant company, with the ambition to contribute meaningfully to the development of the local insurance market and to better respond to the evolving needs of Romanians,” said Tiberiu Maier, President of the Management Board of Signal Iduna Asigurare Reasigurare and Chairman of the Boards of Directors of Signal Iduna Asigurări and Garanta Asigurări.

    Signal Iduna Asigurări reported significant increases, particularly in travel insurance (+90%), followed by liability insurance (+28%), home and property insurance (+21%), buildings and property insurance (+21%), and CASCO (+14%).

    Garanta Asigurări recorded strong growth in liability insurance (+62%), as well as positive developments in cargo transport (+26%) and freight transport – CMR (+25%), alongside CASCO (+14%), in line with increasing demand for protection solutions tailored to the economic environment.
