Oltenia Marathon 2026 opens registration with discounts of up to 20% and introduces the Hyathlon Sprint Race, a premiere in Romania (P)

    Published on

Registration is now open for Oltenia Marathon 2026, the 14th edition of one of the most well-known outdoor sports competitions in Romania, organized by Distribuție Oltenia, part of the Evryo Group. This year’s edition comes with two major highlights: Hyathlon Sprint, a new race format introduced for the first time in Romanian sporting events, and a special offer for group registrations, with discounts of up to 20% on participation fees.

The event will take place on August 29–30, 2026, in Râmnicu Vâlcea, and is designed as a weekend where sport becomes a shared experience — from seasoned athletes to first-time participants. Oltenia Marathon also maintains its social component this year, doubling the value of participation fees and directing the resulting amount toward local communities.

Participants can register at www.maratonulolteniei.ro, and those who choose to join with friends, colleagues, or family benefit from discounts of up to 20%, granted for registrations made simultaneously in the same cart: 15% discount for groups of 3–5 people, and 20% for groups of more than 6 people.

New races in the competition program

The competition program includes both established events and new races, such as Hyathlon Sprint and Urban Run. Hyathlon Sprint is a format that enhances the Oltenia Marathon experience and expands the event’s offering for participants with different levels of training. Urban Run is a unique running experience, with a route that passes along a riverbed — the first race of this kind in Romania.

Over the two days of competition, participants can choose from several events:

    Saturday, August 29:

    • MTB – 22 km
    • Hyathlon Sprint (new race)

    Sunday, August 30:

    • Trail Run – 12 km and 22 km
    • Urban Run (new race) – 10 km
    • Fun Run – 4 km
    • Kids’ Race

Virtual Race – an alternative option for those who cannot attend in person on August 29–30 in Râmnicu Vâlcea. The Virtual Marathon races can be completed anytime, anywhere.

Hyathlon Sprint, a new race format premiering in Romania

One of the most important novelties of the 2026 edition is the introduction of Hyathlon Sprint, a race format presented for the first time in the Romanian sports event landscape.

Designed as a dynamic and intense challenge, Hyathlon Sprint combines running with functional exercises and smart effort management, in a format that is both exciting for participants and engaging for spectators. The new race offers a different experience compared to traditional competitions and responds to the growing interest in events that blend endurance, pace, and physical versatility.

By introducing this race, the organizers aim to bring a modern, accessible, and engaging format to the competition program, suitable for both experienced athletes and those looking for a new challenge.

“Over time, Oltenia Marathon has become a community built around the energy of people who choose to be active together. This year’s edition reflects that spirit very well, and the introduction of Hyathlon Sprint shows our desire to constantly bring new formats and relevant experiences into the event. We want the 2026 edition to be one where performance, energy, and the spirit of #TeamPlayers can be felt every step of the way.” — Ondrej Safar, CEO, Distribuție Oltenia
