Electrica invests 20 million euros in completing the Satu Mare 2 photovoltaic park with an installed capacity of 27 MW

    Published on

Electrica has announced the completion and commissioning of the Satu Mare 2 Photovoltaic Park, a strategic project marking an important step in diversifying its production portfolio and strengthening the company’s role in the energy transition.

Located near the commune of Botiz in Satu Mare County, the park has an installed capacity of 27.056 MW and represents an investment of more than €20 million and it has been partially financed through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR).

The new facility will help increase the share of renewable energy in Electrica Group’s energy mix, reduce carbon emissions, and ensure clean and affordable energy for local communities and the national economy.

Alexandru Chiriță, CEO of Electrica: “The completion of the Satu Mare 2 photovoltaic park represents more than an investment—it is a concrete demonstration of our commitment to Romania’s sustainable future. This project shows that we can turn financing opportunities into investments with a direct impact on communities and the environment. We will continue to develop similar projects that allow us to increase renewable generation capacity, reduce our carbon footprint, and strengthen Romania’s position in the energy transition.”

The commissioning of the Satu Mare 2 photovoltaic park reinforces Electrica Group’s long-term strategic direction, focused on developing sustainable energy projects, diversifying its portfolio, and integrating modern technologies to meet efficiency and environmental requirements.
