Adrian Dobre, Eurowind Energy: “Predictability is key, and I believe the best specialists in Romania should design an energy development plan that does not constantly change”

    Published on

“Eurowind Energy began operations in Romania back in 2011, when we built our first photovoltaic parks. We were pioneers, developing the largest solar park at that time, with a capacity of 1.5 MW. We were also the first to order wind turbines during that period.

Today, we have 124 MW in operation. Our Teiuș park was named the most interesting renewable investment in 2024, and the Pecineaga wind farm is ready to begin producing energy. We have very ambitious plans to reach 700 MW in the next 2–3 years.

It would be hypocritical to say things are going badly in Romania’s renewable sector right now. We are open to dialogue; we are all part of this market, and it is clear that a balanced energy mix is the solution,” said Adrian Dobre, Country Manager Romania, Eurowind Energy during the Green Energy Conference, organized by The Diplomat-Bucharest.

    Key statements

    • “I want to draw attention to the importance of transparency regarding the execution of grid reinforcement works. For us, it is absolutely vital to know the timeline and completion dates. Based on those, we can decide when to order equipment, when to sign financing contracts, and when to assume obligations in power purchase agreements.”
    • “If we want to maintain our competitive edge in the region and avoid repeating past mistakes, we need transparency.”
    • “Following investments of over €100 million, daily revenues are expected to reach tens of thousands of euros. Any project delay has a significant impact.”
    • “After technical approval of procedures, waiting an extra week for all signatures and authorizations is extremely frustrating for us as investors.”
    • “The renewable energy sector is progressing very well, but these administrative challenges must be addressed honestly, as they can be solved. In my opinion, projects in advanced stages should be prioritized.”
    • “Predictability is key. Romania needs regulation and a clear energy development plan that does not change constantly.”
