Mihai Jurca, Head of the Prime Minister’s Chancellery: “We want to introduce a package of mechanisms to stimulate the economy and boost Romania’s competitiveness”

“The state and the government must ensure the right conditions for companies to grow and avoid creating obstacles whenever possible – something we haven’t always managed to do. Everything we are doing today is aimed at staying in the same boat with the private sector. The measures we are taking are not easy – on the contrary, they are extremely difficult.

Of course, not everything we do is perfect; there is always room for optimization, and you have our full openness to make improvements,” said Mihai Jurca, Head of the Prime Minister’s Chancellery, during a meeting with members of AHK Romania.

“What I can say, and guarantee is that, as long as we are in this position, we will do everything within our power to continue implementing the reforms and measures Romania needs.

We are preparing to launch a fourth package of measures – a set of mechanisms designed to stimulate the economy and enhance Romania’s competitiveness. We fully understand the need for this to overcome the difficult period, which, according to our estimates, will last until the end of next year.

We must ensure funding for the development of the private sector and provide a predictable tax framework.

The position I hold is by no means an easy one, but what I can say with certainty is that we value the contribution you bring to society, we understand your needs, and at the same time we recognize that if we are not honest and transparent about the reality of the situation, we would do more harm than good.”
