New association launched to simplify and standardize tax refunds for the European transport sector

    Published on

REMOBIS Refund Service C.V. and Edenred Finance UAB have joined forces to launch the European Refund Providers Association (ERPA), a new industry initiative aimed at advocating on behalf of the tax refund services industry. By promoting collaboration and contributing to a sector-wide push for innovation, transparency, and efficiency, ERPA seeks to create value for both international commercial road transport (CRT) companies and tax and customs authorities across Europe.

ERPA brings together industry leaders to initiate solutions that make complex administrative processes simpler, improve transparency, and add value for all stakeholders in a sector where efficiency, compliance, and clarity are critical.

“Every year, thousands of CRT companies across Europe face complex, long and inconsistent procedures to reclaim taxes paid abroad. Therefore, the creation of ERPA represents a major change by giving CRT businesses a unified voice and promoting progressive solutions, that enable processes to be simplified, excessive requirements to be mitigated and refund applications to be timely processed and reimbursed” – Loreta Augulytė-Grekauskienė, General Manager of Edenred Finance, explains the association’s founding objectives.

Together, the association’s founding members, Edenred Finance (Lithuania) and REMOBIS Refund Service (Netherlands), along with the associated companies Nikosax A/S in Denmark, Alfa Transport Service in the Netherlands, and Tax Refund S.R.L. in Romania, represent a significant share of the European market. Collectively, they serve around 32,000 clients and handle over 220,000 cross-border refund applications annually, giving ERPA both scale and influence.

“ERPA represents a bold step forward for the tax refund industry. By uniting leading providers under one roof, we’re setting new standards for innovation, efficiency, and trust in cross-border transport compliance”- Pieter van Wel, the Chairman of ERPA adds.

ERPA seeks to increase the effectiveness of tax return procedures and promote a better understanding of the industry’s role by regulatory bodies. By bringing together top European refund providers, the association will promote cooperation and drive improvements in service standards.

ERPA, which was officially registered on 25 July 2024 in the Netherlands, now is starting its activity and currently represents five members.
