Schneider Electric Romania contributed to the modernization of urban public transport infrastructure in Madagascar (P)

    Published on

Schneider Electric Romania was involved in a strategic project to modernize the urban railway transport line in Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar. By providing a complete turnkey energy distribution solution, the company contributed to facilitating the population’s access to efficient and sustainable public transport, accelerating the electrification and automation process of the urban mobility infrastructure in the region.

The project involved the delivery of four containers fully equipped with state-of-the-art technologies, which ensure the power supply and control of urban traction electric lines.

The technologies provided offer increased energy efficiency, reliability and are compatible with advanced digital control platforms. The project supports the sustainability and digitalization objectives of urban transport networks, facilitating future expansions and integration into a modern electrical ecosystem.

In the context of the high complexity of the project and technical specifications that became evident during the project, the Schneider Electric team managed to deliver a complete solution, assuming the integration of its own equipment with that of its partner Pluton, with whom it had also successfully collaborated in a project to electrify the public transport network in Vaslui.

Through this project, Schneider Electric Romania actively contributes to improving urban mobility in Madagascar, supporting the transition to modern, cleaner and more reliable public transport. The electric power supply of the tram lines in Antananarivo is an essential step in reducing dependence on fossil fuels and increasing access to public transport services for the population.

“It was a complex journey, but thanks to the professionalism and commitment of the team, Schneider Electric Romania successfully delivered SM6 distribution cabinets, SCADA Power Operation and Trihal transformers to Madagascar. It is a strong example of international collaboration and real impact on communities,” said Cătălin Bulagea, Segment Manager Utilities Schneider Electric Romania.

The project was carried out in partnership with INDAELTRAC SRL – the direct client – and Arterail, a French company acting as EPC and general integrator. The collaboration took place over a period of four years, with the project involving an extensive team of professionals from Schneider Electric Romania.
