Răzvan Ungureanu is the new Partner of EY Romania within the Tax Consulting department

    Published on

Răzvan Ungureanu has been promoted to Partner of EY Romania within the Tax Advisory department starting July 2025. With almost 17 years of experience in tax advisory within EY Romania, Răzvan specializes in direct taxation of companies, both domestically and internationally. Răzvan leads the international tax advisory team of EY Romania.

The main areas of expertise include international tax planning, tax optimization, business restructurings, tax compliance, as well as a number of other aspects related to corporate taxation. Alex Milcev, Partner, Tax and Legal Advisory Leader, EY Romania:

“The promotion of Răzvan Ungureanu to Partner level in EY Romania within the Tax Advisory department underlines the increasing complexity of international tax issues and EY’s commitment to supporting clients in managing the tax challenges they face. Global tax systems have undergone significant transformations in recent years and are expected to continue at an accelerated pace in the coming period. There is an increasing emphasis on greater transparency regarding income earned and taxes paid by taxpayers in various countries, in order to identify potential imbalances, especially in the context in which cross-border business has developed massively, often without the physical presence of the respective companies similarly reflecting the size of their businesses in different parts of the world.”

“Digitalization in the tax field is a necessity, and we see a much larger volume of data that taxpayers are required to transmit to tax authorities, but also a modernization of the infrastructure and the way authorities interact with taxpayers. Given that taxes and duties constitute the primary resource of countries to cover public spending and investments, Romania is at the bottom of the ranking in terms of the level of taxes collected as a percentage of GDP, which leads to Government measures to increase taxes – and we are already seeing some measures in this regard. In this tumultuous context, both at the national and international level, it is important for companies to have a business strategy that takes into account these challenges and opportunities, and our team will continue to be a strategic partner of our clients and the business community of which we are a part”, stated Răzvan Ungureanu.

Răzvan Ungureanu graduated from the Master’s program in Corporate Finance at the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Insurance, Banking and Stock Exchanges from the Romanian Academy of Economic Studies. He is also a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the Chamber of Tax Consultants in Romania.
