Energy Policy Group (EPG) organized the sixth edition of the Romania Eficienta Forum, with the support of OMV Petrom. The event brought to the forefront the impact of national and European policies on the energy efficiency of buildings, providing a discussion platform for experts, decision-makers and industry leaders.

In the opening of the event, Christina Verchere, CEO of OMV Petrom, emphasized that energy efficiency is the most impactful thing that we can all work on: “In the world of energy transition, energy efficiency is probably the biggest most impactful thing that we can all work on. The energy transition is very clearly underway; that is not changing. There are maybe some debates about pace, about which technologies are working in the business case, but it is very clear that the energy transition is happening and we have set aside, in this decade, 3.5 billion euros to invest in projects with low and zero carbon emissions by 2030, to decarbonize the products we put on the market, to enable the change.”

“We have also invested in biofuels, we have announced the investment for the decarbonization of transport. We will invest around 750 million euros at Petrobrazi to transform the refinery into the first major producer of sustainable fuels in the region,” she added.

Cristina Verchere also mentioned the Romania Eficienta project, carried out by the Energy Policy Group (EPG) in partnership with and funded by OMV Petrom, through which schools in Romania are renovated to nZEB standards (nearly zero energy building). She stated that collaboration with local authorities is very important for the development of these renovation projects.

The Romania Eficienta Forum, organized by the Energy Policy Group (EPG), with the support of OMV Petrom, brought to the forefront the impact of national and European policies on the energy efficiency of buildings, providing a discussion platform for experts, decision-makers and industry leaders, but also for those who reflect these changes in the media.

The Energy Policy Group (EPG) is an independent, non-profit think tank specializing in energy and climate policy, market analysis and energy strategy, founded in 2014. EPG contributes to the realization of a technologically advanced, sustainable and socially acceptable energy system. EPG also promotes long-term decarbonization policies and measures in all economic areas: energy, buildings, transport, industry, agriculture.
