    Published on

Hidroelectrica, the largest energy producer in Romania, announces the launch of two new bill payment methods: Google Pay and Apple Pay, implemented by PayU GPO, the leader in digital payments in Romania.

Hidroelectrica customers now have multiple payment options: bank card, Google Pay and Apple Pay, both in the iHidro application (available on Android and iOS) and on the ihidro.ro web platform.

“We are pleased to offer our customers a simple and fast way to pay their bills through Google Pay and Apple Pay, two of the most popular mobile payment solutions in the world. This is just one of the measures through which we continue the transition to digital services in line with global technology and security standards,” said Karoly Borbely, CEO of Hidroelectrica.

“The fact that we have managed to efficiently and quickly implement modern digital payment methods for an essential service makes us happy and motivates us to continue, together with our partners at Hidroelectrica, a digitalization process that simplifies the customer payment experience and builds their loyalty,” said Elena Gheorghe, Country Manager PayU GPO Romania.

The new payment facilities are available to all Hidroelectrica customers who have an active account and a bank card registered in Google Pay or Apple Pay. To make a payment with Visa or Mastercard, customers must access the iHidro application or its web version, ihidro.ro, select the desired invoice and follow the steps indicated to complete the transaction.

Hidroelectrica is the largest green energy producer in Romania and provides essential technological services for the National Energy System. The company operates 187 plants with a hydropower capacity of 6.3 GW and owns a wind farm at Crucea, with an installed power of 108 MW. In addition, Hidroelectrica is among the top energy suppliers in our country, with a portfolio of approximately 600 thousand consumption places.
