Ministry of Energy extends the program dedicated to the development of electricity storage capacities by one month

    Published on

The call for projects “Supporting investments in the development of electricity storage capacities (batteries) with financing from the Modernization Fund” is extended by one month, respectively until February 17, 2025, the Ministry of Energy announced. Initially, the deadline for submitting projects to the program was January 17, 2025.

“The Ministry of Energy announces the extension of the call for projects under Key Program No. 1 – Renewable Energy Sources and Energy Storage – “Supporting investments in the development of electricity storage capacities (batteries) with financing from the Modernization Fund”. The call for projects is extended by 30 days, respectively until February 17, 2025,” the release states, according to Agerpres.

The conditions for conducting the call and all related documents remain unchanged. The storage capacity annually absorbs at least 75% of its energy from the renewable energy production facility to which it is directly connected.

The call for projects is competitive, based on a competitive bidding procedure and is based on the selection criterion of the amount of state aid requested for the project from the eligible costs per MWh of storage installed.

“At the time of submitting the application for financing, the applicant must hold a real right over the renewable energy production facility to which the storage facility for which financing is requested will be directly connected and must at least provide proof of obtaining the notification of energizing for the trial period from the relevant network operator, and at the contracting stage it is mandatory to submit the connection certificate and the supporting document for the final energizing of the production facility,” the program’s Financing Guide states.

The estimated total budget of the scheme is the equivalent in lei of the amount of 150 million euros, at the euro exchange rate of the month prior to the opening of the competitive bidding procedure and represents non-refundable amounts from the Modernization Fund.

The state aid is granted in lei in the form of reimbursement of eligible expenses incurred and cannot exceed 100% of the eligible expenses of the project and ten million euros/enterprise/project, and the value of the state aid granted per MWh of installed storage is a maximum of 100,000 euros.
