Elena Popescu, Elektra Renewable Support: “Hybrid projects represent one of the solutions for today’s energy market”

“The maintenance activity of energy capacities must be continuously improved both from the point of view of technology and from the point of view of the applicability of the maintenance process, in close connection with each energy capacity.

If we are talking about a general maintenance plan, it is customized every time for each energy capacity, from the smallest to the largest. The maintenance process also includes the technical management of the energy capacities, in our case through this control room, in Cernavoda, from where, in fact, every day we face new challenges due to changes in the energy market, from which the improvement of processes results,” Elena Popescu, CEO, Elektra Renewable Support said during Green Energy Conference organized by The Diplomat-Bucharest.

“The fact that we have been present since the beginning of the field of renewable energy in Romania, meaning since 2009, has allowed us to grow and experience all kinds of things and challenges. And the fact that we have lasted until today and it seems that we have given ourselves another 10 years in the activity of dispatching, operation and maintenance, only means that we are constantly improving, and we are close to our colleagues and our customers. Fortunately, we can also discuss from the position of producer, investor, developer and then we have a global picture of the whole process of exploiting energy capacities and any legislative impact or closely related to energy or new energy trading mechanisms means that we can improve and add value.

Hybrid projects represent one of the solutions for today’s energy market. We all do this business in the energy market or any business for a profit and to maximize your profits and minimize your losses, and hybridization of installations is the first step towards achieving this.

We really have a very interesting and challenging project from a technical point of view, which I can’t wait to start in Cernavoda. It is a hybrid, wind power plant with 10 MW, which has a hydrogen production facility.

It is a project that will be realized and of which we are proud. Fortunately, or unfortunately, there really is no infrastructure to transport hydrogen today. In any case, we are not discussing a construction from today to tomorrow, we are talking about several years and until then this problem can be solved.”
