In Rovinari, on March 14, the event marking the intermediate stage for the target of 100 specialists trained through professional reconversion courses and adaptation to the requirements of a growing sustainable economy, took place in the training center established within Complexul Energetic Oltenia.

RenewAcad, financed by OMV Petrom and implemented by Fundația Șanse Egale, with the support of RESS – Renewable Energy School of Skills, is a professional training program designed to provide employees in the field of energy production from fossil fuels with the necessary skills to become specialists in green trades, in accordance with the current needs of the industry and the global trends of sustainable development.

The RenewAcad – Targu Jiu project is quickly exceeding 50 percent of the target due to the great interest shown by the over-registration by up to 3 times of those who want to take these courses. Due to the large number of requests and the increased interest, a possible organization from September 2024 of a new training session, for new groups of learners, is being considered.

To date, a number of 54 people have successfully completed the professional training courses. Of the 54 trainees, 11 of them graduated from university, while the rest completed high school or attended post-secondary or vocational schools.

Regarding the occupational profile of the trainees, the predominant presence of electrical workers was noted: 16 electricians, maintenance, and repair electricians or those involved in the operation of power plants and stations. In addition, in the group of trainees, other trades were also found, such as mechanical locksmiths (12), operators (8), formation leaders (5), as well as specialists in various fields such as engineers, excavators, programmers, fuel shift chief dispatchers, machinists or workshop foremen.
