In 2024, Romania will become a hotspot of the energy transition for CCE, the Austrian specialist for renewable energies. After the start of the 42 MW solar power plant in Horia in the Arad region, the CCE Development Romania team has now obtained further building permits and grid commitments for 4 more projects that will supply over 130,000 households with green electricity in the future.

In 2024, CCE plans to build projects with a total capacity of over 400 MW in its core countries. Romania is also the focus of the construction activities, explains CCE-Romania Managing Director Johannes Srajer: “Over the past two years, our team has developed projects at an incredible pace and brought them to maturity. The country offers excellent conditions for us to make the energy transition visible quickly and efficiently and to implement projects that are ready for construction.”

CCE is therefore planning to start construction of further large-scale ground-mounted plants with a total nominal capacity of over 200 MW before the end of this year.

In addition to the existing building permits, CCE has now also received the grid commitments (ATR) for the Izvoarele (62 MWp), Peris 1 (61 MWp), Peris 2 (57 MWp) and Crevedia (54 MWp) projects. As a result, these power plants will also achieve “ready to build” status, which will enable CCE to start construction before the end of this year.

Together with the Horia 1 project, which is already under construction, CCE’s solar power plants in Romania will produce almost half a million-megawatt hours of green electricity in the near future – roughly equivalent to the annual household electricity demand of the Romanian city of Arad (145,000 inhabitants).
